Welcome to my complete portfolio page. While this website and blog as a whole represent much of what I am passionate about, I have designed this specific page as a brief summary of all my creative work. Below is a wide range of creative projects and artforms that have at some point gained obsessive attention from me, from animation to music composition to business startup. I have broken them down into the following bolded categories.
Digital Shorts & Animations
These motion-picture samples represent my excitement in creating believable and relatable characters through animation and live-action. You’ll also notice my fascination with bringing them into the “real world” by merging animation with live action and real spaces. You can view small descriptions of each piece by clicking the “vimeo” or “youtube” link at the bottom right of an open video.
Drawings
I keep a separate drawing blog, where I post one new drawing every single day: Drawings365.com
Below is a small sample of my artwork. (If you click an image, then you can use your keyboard arrows to click through the rest)
Directing / Music Composition
This is a scene from the musical I wrote, called “The Multifaceted Infrastructure Known as the Female Mind”.
Directed and accompanied on piano by Curtis Wiklund. The scene “Awkward” takes place in a movie theater during Dorothy and Marcus’ first date.
And nothing could be as exciting to me as hearing one of my fictional characters sing a song in a commercial or musical! Here are a couple songs I’ve written and recorded. There are small descriptions of each piece by clicking the title. (If the songs do not load immediately, try refreshing the page, or visit music.curtiswiklund.com for the separate music page.)
Entrepreneurship
While not an immediately “creative” word, entrepreneurship is the crux of my creative pursuits, from my guitar and art lesson business I ran as a kid and as a highschooler, to now our wedding and portrait photography studio. To me, entrepreneurship means giving an artform a sustainable life. When I dream about new engaging experiences for commercials and entertainment, I see them requiring an active entrepreneurial role to bring them to fruition.
I began our photography business in 2008, and it now provides an amazing opportunity for my wife and I to travel and pursue a creative outlet together. Our photography portfolio is available at CurtisWiklundPhotography.com or by clicking the image below. We also regularly post projects to our blog.
This page is by no means exhaustive, but it gives a nice little overview of the kind of stuff I work on. I don’t even know if I could scratch the surface of the piles and notebooks and hard drives full of projects and doodles and writings. Some day, when I’m feeling extraordinarily brave, I’ll post one of my short stories on here! Until then, thanks for visiting! Keep an eye on the blog for the latest!
